Grace Surman & Gary Winters: for portraits of a family, two adults and two children, their faces are being squished by someones hand

Grace Surman & Gary Winters

Residency Dates: Mon 29 Jul – Fri 9 Aug

Performance makers Grace Surman and Gary Winters, along with their two children, were making a new live work for audiences of all ages.

They wanted the show to be comedic, physical, anarchic and surreal; connecting to a child’s way of thinking and amusement.

The underlying theme and impetus came from a political standpoint against the current state education system, although this may have translated into the performers dressed as giant nuts, on scooters, setting off science experiments.

During their time in the Creation Space they invited local families in to share and develop material.
