We're delighted to announce that artsdepot has been awarded Best Family Venue at the Get Creative Family Arts Festival Awards. The judges commended artsdepot for putting families at the heart of what we do, and welcoming them into the venue.

We present 200 family performances each year across our two theatre spaces, in addition to free family events, and free music and exhibitions for people of all ages to enjoy. Our vibrant programme also includes relaxed performances and work especially designed for children with autism and profound and multiple learning disabilities.

From tiny tots exploring colours and textures at Messy Play, to teenagers creating their own theatre work in artsdepot Young Company, and workshops with schools, artsdepot provides participation opportunities for youngsters of all ages. In 2015 – 16, 2,590 children and young people took part in our creative learning projects.

artsdepot is fully accessible for families with step free access and baby changing facilities on all levels. We have a free children’s area with soft play, a book corner, an area to display children’s artwork, and space for adults to relax. The café also provides a relaxing environment for families and NCT groups to meet, with child-friendly snacks and baby food on offer, and high chairs provided.

The Get Creative Family Arts Festival is a national Festival of arts events for families. 737 organisations delivered events as part of the 2016 festival, which took place throughout October 2016. Around 500,000 family members attended one of the 4,000 festival events held across the UK.

Voted for by a panel of expert judges from the arts sector, the Get Creative Family Arts Festival Awards recognise the outstanding events that took place within the 2016 Festival and the exemplary family-friendly organisations and venues that participated. The Get Creative Family Arts Festival Awards ceremony took place on Tuesday 14 March at Circomedia in Bristol.
