Over three weeks in January 2013, eight young people from The Pavilion Study Centre plus four family members, took part in a contemporary dance residency with professionals from Protein Dance Company. Workshops introduced the group to contemporary dance and focussed on developing teamwork. Together with professionals, participants choreographed their own pieces for performance.
Parents, carers and siblings also took part in two evening sessions during this time, developing content which was used in an audio-visual backdrop for a new piece of dance. The project culminated in a performance in artsdepot’s studio theatre featuring the eight young participants performing alongside professional dancers.
