Are you curious about acting, devising, or making theatre with others? Interested in being part of a youth company and potentially performing in the National Theatre Connections Festival in 2026? Then come along!
This Autumn, join our collaborative drama sessions focused on new writing and ensemble performance, designed for young people aged 13 – 19. Led by a professional theatre director, these fun and welcoming sessions explore ensemble work, fresh new scripts, and helping you grow in confidence as a performer.
Whether you’re completely new to performing or already love being on stage, these workshops are a great opportunity to meet others, try something new each week, and create bold, brilliant theatre together.

What’s next?
In January, we’ll launch the Spring Term of our artsdepot Young Company, where we’ll rehearse and perform one of the National Theatre’s commissioned plays on our Studio Theatre stage as part of NT Connections 2026. If you join us this autumn, you’ll be in a great position to continue — but there’s no pressure. These sessions are open to everyone.

Meet the Tutor

Laura Atherton

Laura Atherton
Laura Atherton is a North London based theatre maker. A trained actor, script writer and with experience in directing Laura has a wide ranging theatre skillset.
She’s a long time collaborator with experimental theatre company imitating the dog, a company that specialises in making work that blends digital and live theatre. She has toured as an actor in their shows both nationally and internationally, to countries including Brazil, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Italy. Shows include Macbeth, A Farewell to Arms and Night of the Living Dead – Remix and she also worked in the development of and on stage for ‘Cinema Inferno’ at Paris Haute Couture Fashion week.
Laura specialises in contemporary theatre and is experienced in a wide range of styles including physical theatre, digital theatre, devising, mask work and new writing. Her directing style is explorative, engaging and enthusiastic. The sessions for the Young Company will offer members a chance to learn about lots of theatre styles in a supportive environment, develop their theatre making skills, increase their confidence as a performer and to have fun!
