In five quick-fire questions, Grace Surman, Gary Winters and their two children Hope and Merrick tell us more about their plans for their residency in the Creation Space.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

We are a family art collective, forming after working in different configurations, contexts and mediums since Gary and Grace met their children Hope and Merrick.

How would you describe the work that you create?

The work we make can be anarchical, silly, democratic, surreal or just funny.

What will you be working on during your residency at artsdepot?

We will be working on research collected on the strangeness of the Victorians and making delicate sculptures.

What elements of the project will you be developing while you’re here?

Talking and moving.

What’s the most useful thing to have with you in the rehearsal space?

A sense of humour.
