For the last three years we have delivered architecture and design projects working with leading practitioners and local schools culminating in an exhibition presentation in our gallery space over the Christmas period. Previous projects have included The Storytelling Igloo and Climate Emergency.
In Autumn 2021 we worked with cultural innovators Studio Polpo and Architype to deliver a project with Mapledown SEN school, Trent CE Primary School and Saracens High School.
The project combined Architype’s expertise in low-carbon sustainable design, design of educational environments and co-design strategies, and Studio Polpo’s experience with arts-led temporary structures and installations. During the Autumn term, students from the three schools worked with Studio Polpo and Architype in a series of workshops which aimed to develop their understanding of design and sustainability. This culminated in the creation of a pavillion which was exhibited in the Playful Prototypes exhibition in our Apthorp Gallery throughout December 2021.
