sketch of a face

Fleeting Faces

I have been struck, during lockdown, by the number of faces we see on our screens, either on the television, or via video conferencing,  Facetime or video call, which are often poor quality images, or seen very fleetingly.  This virtual gallery has inspired me to try to capture some of them in pen and ink.  Most of them are quite small, only a few centimetres across.

I have tried to convey the character of each face, using only the few seconds available and reducing the number of marks to the bare minimum; just enough to get the message across. It is amazing how few you need.

A trend emerges too.  People are full face to the screen usually, and many of them have unkempt or long hair!
