An interactive performance exploring the personal and political legacy of Margaret Thatcher.

The audience are invited to Mrs. Thatcher’s very own traditional English tea party. With lip-sync, clown and verbatim theatre you are encouraged to bring your anger or admiration in the comforts of cake and cucumber sandwiches.

Created and performed by Jack Boal, who grew up in Thatcher’s former constituency, Thatcher-Rite puts the personal and political side by side. Her mark on the cultural, social, and political notions of Englishness begs the question, “Has Mrs. Thatcher truly left us?”

Created and Performed by Jack Boal
Directed by Lila Robirosa
Costume Design by Corinna Francavilla
Sound Design by Damian Pace
Produced by Mia Young

These performances are signed for the benefit of audience members who use sign language. Trained British Signed Language (BSL) interpreters usually stand to one side of the stage and interpret the script used by the performers; in these cases we’ve marked on the seating plan where you’ll get the best view of the signer.

For some shows (like The Gruffalo’s Child), the BSL interpreter is integrated into the performance and will move around with the performers.
