As part of the three year Circulate programme, we offered 13 - 19 year olds from North London the opportunity to receive specialist training through our Street Arts Academy.
In 2014, the Street Arts Academy participated in a spectacular new show called Source created by leading outdoor arts companies Cirque Bijou and Nutkhut. Source was a free outdoor show that appeared across London throughout summer 2014, and was performed outside artsdepot on Saturday 30 August 2014. The performance incorporated a historically important character from each location. For artsdepot it was Joseph Grimaldi, the English actor, comedian and dancer, who became the most popular English entertainer of the Regency era.
Renowned outdoor arts company Emergency Exit Arts worked in partnership with Cirque Bijou, Nutkhut and artsdepot to provide an exciting performance training opportunity for 20 young people aged 13 - 19. During a week of free workshops participants worked with professional Street Arts performers and joined a dynamic young ensemble to learn outdoor performance techniques and help bring the show to life.
Circulate was funded by Arts Council England Strategic Touring Fund and is a partnership project with artsdepot, The Albany, Tara Arts, Harrow Arts Centre, Millfield Theatre, Watermans, Emergency Exit Arts and Mayor of London’s office.
