Seagull Productions

Lucy Havard and Conor Dumbrell are a duo of London-based actors and writers whose work focusses on the intersection of live performance and sound design.

The pair met at LAMDA while training for the BBC Carleton Hobbs Awards and have since created a portfolio of original theatre and audio productions including INSIDES, which debuted at Pleasance’s New Work Season, and GUTS, an audio drama anthology series.

During their artsdepot residency, Lucy and Conor will be adapting their audio drama Wood Wide Web into a theatre show for young audiences. The story takes us deep under the forest floor to the Wood Wide Web: an underground call centre operated by mushrooms, who work their little socks off to pass messages from tree to tree day and night. But when a glitch in the root network stops a message from getting through, can Walter, the tiniest mushroom of all, become the hero the forest needs? This rip-roaring, nature-inspired adventure takes us on an underground quest with giant mole puppetry, splash-zone aphid attacks and a message that’s there’s strength in friendship and unity, no matter how small you are.
