I, Ross is a new drama created collaboratively by playwright Rosamund Gravelle, director Emma Copland and actor Shaun Blaney.
Rosamund Gravelle is an English playwright, poet and producer, who creates dynamic, complex characters combined with strong storytelling. Emma Copland is a Scottish theatre director and maker whose focus is on new writing and classical adaptations. Shaun Blaney is a Northern Irish actor and writer, who specialises in multi-role performances.
Their residency will focus on developing a new work about the complexities of masculinity and dangerous leaders. Inspired by the enigmatic survivor of Macbeth, “Ross”, this piece looks at the impact of trauma, the allure of charismatic role-models and the dangers of not holding people to account. Together with the support of artsdepot, Shaun, Rosamund and Emma, will engage with local groups to test the material and explore the most impactful ending to this story of being led down an exploitative, but not unlucrative, path.
