Katie Greenall's critically acclaimed BLUBBER began its journey as a R&D project in 2021 at artsdepot.
Whilst initially being set up to seem like a campy show about synchronised swimming, BLUBBER takes the form of a quest, where ‘Katie’ loses ‘Body’ and embarks on a journey across strange lands, oracles and whales to find and reconnect with it. BLUBBER invites the audience to join Katie in rediscovering what care looks like for fat bodies, culminating in the audience being asked to take on an act of care for them.
This show’s development was supported by: Arts Council England, artsdepot, Cambridge Junction, Battersea Arts Centre, Roundhouse, Marlborough Productions, VAULT Festival, the Barbican and MAST, and it is produced by The Hale.
BLUBBER was the runner up for the Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust award, and after a successful run at Summerhall during 2024’s Edinburgh Fringe, it toured nationally in 2026 with house theatre.
