The mundane meets the abstract in this highly physical production that explores how global events seep into the minutiae of the everyday.
Bottled follows three Barnet Water Company colleagues as they navigate their relationships amidst a rapidly shifting political landscape, demonstrating how political pressures leak into personal spaces. Integrating written text, verbatim interviews, and choreographed movement, the work explores the significance of water in Islam, Judaism and everyday life. Bottled captures the complex nature of inter-faith dialogue today.
Adi Gortler and Hamza Ali are London-based directors and movement artists. Their work centres physical techniques to create, facilitate, and perform theatre. Bottled was developed during their Artist Residency at artsdepot, supported by Tsitsit Fringe Festival. Created by an inter-faith artistic team, the collaborators engaged local Jewish and Muslim communities; their voices helped shape the work. The project captures diverse perspectives spanning age, orthodoxy, secularity, and gender.
Part of Tsitsit Fringe Festival 2025.
