Our Freedom: Then and Now is a creative project happening in Burnt Oak and the surrounding areas, exploring the theme of freedom - what it means to you, your family, and your community.
Whether you’re 18 or 86, new to the area or have called Burnt Oak home your whole life, we’d love for you to join us in celebrating local voices and putting Burnt Oak on the map. You’ll have the chance to share your stories, your heritage, and your hopes for the future through creative activities.
We’re gathering photos and voice recordings from people in Burnt Oak and across Barnet to be part of our upcoming exhibition, To Us It Means, which will be on display in our Apthorp Gallery from Sunday 26 October – Saturday 1 November 2025. Find out more about the exhibition and find out how to be part of it.
This project is part of Our Freedom: Then and Now, a nationwide programme marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. artsdepot is proud to be one of 60 organisations across the UK selected to take part. Together, we’ll reflect on the past and imagine what freedom means today. Read more about projects across the country at www.ourfreedom.org.uk
