Residency Dates: Mon 14 - Sun 20 Oct & Mon 10 - Fri 14 Feb
What was it like the very first time you fell in love? Was your ‘bounty as boundless as the sea’ or in time does ‘unkindness lay upon your heart’? Ouch! Milk Presents and Theophillus 'Godson' Oloyade will be exploring first loves, longing, heartbreak and heartache using Shakespeare’s queerest forgotten sonnets and his greatest love story - Romeo and Juliet.
This is a meeting of practices, fusing Milk Presents’s Artistic Director Leo J Skilbeck’s queer performance practice with choreographer Theophillus 'Godson' Oloyade’s pioneering Krump dance practice.
Theophillus is a senior member of Boy Blue Entertainment and was a finalist for SKY 1’s Got to Dance and Britain’s Got Talent. Theophillus is a UK Krump pioneer, hip-hop dancer and choreographer.
Leo is a director, creator and writer, and the Artistic Director of Milk Presents. From drag king plays (JOAN, Derby Theatre, winner of Off West End Award) to cabaret Chekhov (The Bear/The Proposal, Young Vic) their work centres the trans experience unexpected ways. The work of Milk Presents forefronts queer and trans narratives and aims to create real social and structural change - in fabulous ways. They've toured five critically acclaimed productions nationally and internationally.
