A history of artsdepot, its people, and their stories.

In the late 90s, as a new millennium approached and hopes for the future ran high, a bold idea took root: to create a major new arts venue in Barnet. In 2004 the plan was realised, and artsdepot opened its doors for the first time.

Since then, the world has changed dramatically. From the 2008 financial crisis to the rise of social media and the COVID-19 pandemic, global and national events have reshaped how we live, connect and create. Throughout it all, artsdepot has remained a nourishing part of people’s lives – weathering storms, celebrating the community’s cultural events, marking milestones, and evolving in response to both local voices and wider shifts.

This exhibition reflects on 20 years of artsdepot’s story – told through its culture, its people, and the moments that have shaped it.

The exhibition takes place across our building, starting at the Ground Floor all the way up to Level 3.

With thanks to National Lottery Heritage Fund and Taylor Wimpey.
