Victoria Briggs and Filskit Theatre Company used their artsdepot residency for R&D to turn Jan Fearnley’s classic children’s book Little Robin Red Vest into a magical family show.
The company spent time in the Creation Space using puppetry, music and immersive sensory elements to tell the story for young audiences and shared extracts of the show with families and school groups to test and develop ideas.
In Little Robin Red Vest, it is the week before Christmas, and Little Robin washes and irons 7 warm vests for the chilly nights to come. As the days go by, he meets lots of cold and shivering animals, and kindly gives them his vests to wear. Little Robin is left cold and alone…until something wonderful happens.
This project is a collaboration between Victoria Briggs (adaptation & director), Sarah Shephard (dramaturg), David Lewington (sound & music), Rachel Baynton (designer) and Filskit Theatre (producer). Filskit Theatre Company’s award-winning shows have toured the UK and internationally. The creative team all specialise in making high quality work for little ones and their families.
