Lilit Lesser

Actor-writer Lilit Lesser brings to life the story of Jewish demon Lilith.

In a cross-form cataclysm of cabaret, ritual, video, live sound and song, the project reanimates Lilith. Across all human history, we see Lilith face down angels, possess Professors and enact healing rituals of their ancestors (while occasionally spending a decade sleeping in the back of a rusty, scab-red Nissan Micra). We reclaim incantations made to exile ‘othered’ entities (be they demons, Jewish, Queer or Disabled bodies). We live and thrive in planes comprising diversity and oneness, with space for darkness within light. All spoken through the throat of an immortal Jewish demon.

LILIT played as a work-in-progress at VAULT Festival 2023, and was nominated for the After Dark Award.

Lilit Lesser is an actor, writer, translator and cabaret artist. They are Jewish, trans-nonbinary, disabled and neurodivergent. Recent work includes a leading role in BAFTA-nominated Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light (BBC), The Confessions (National Theatre), Tumtum (BFI).

This residency is supported in collaboration with Tsitsit Fringe Festival.
