Amir Shoenfeld & Caitlyn Burt are a writing team and musical theatre nerds.
They’re passionate about craft, storytelling, and using the musical theatre medium to tell stories of unique forms of strength.
Their projects include punk-rock musical When We Strike (Southwark Playhouse, 2024) and podcast-musical Sheila the Tiny Turtle (Bite-Sized Broadway, 2021). They’ve received the Stiles & Drewe Prize for Vision, Voice & Potential (2024) and their song ‘Looking at the Moon’ was selected by Tony-winner Jason Robert Brown as the winner of the Song for Our Time competition (Tarento Productions, 2020).
Amir & Caitlyn will be developing their new musical, Otto Weidt’s Brush & Broom Workshop for the Blind. The piece is inspired by the true story of Otto Weidt – a blind, German man who shielded his visually impaired Jewish workers from Nazi persecution. Working in collaboration with blind and visually impaired artists, the piece aims to elevate the audience experience of people with any level of sight using integrated audio description, weaving visual information into dialogue, lyrics, and soundscape.
This residency is supported in collaboration with Tsitsit Fringe Festival.
