Elly & Olia

Inspired by rules and limitations, they use simple technology, props and games to make bizarre work for non-dance specific audiences.

During their residency, Elly & Olia will be developing their dance-comedy show Take A Seat – a mix of movement, mime, voice and minimal technology. Using hyper-specific stock images and spoken instructions, the show exploits parody and obedience. Take A Seat plays with how narratives are formed: not through fixed storytelling but through the audience’s own interpretation. The residency will also allow them to explore making the work accessible to Visually Impaired and D/deaf audiences.

Elly & Olia are the recipients of this year’s Young Artist Residency.
