Log inA euphoric live performance from musician and composer Jez Colborne.
Part performance, part light show, and part immersive sonic experience, Lighthouse is a euphoric live performance from musician and composer Jez Colborne, produced by Mind the Gap, exploring themes of isolation, automation, and transformation, through original music, projection, and movement.
A veteran lighthouse keeper is posted to a barren rock in the middle of the ocean. He loves the isolation. But, after he loses contact with the mainland, decades pass. As oncoming automation threatens everything he’s ever known, can he protect the lighthouse or has his time alone blurred the lines between reality and fantasy?
Lighthouse is a dark sonic trip with a new industrial soundtrack inspired by jungle, drum & bass and breakbeat. Blending original music with projection, film, sculpture, and movement, Colborne explores his own relationship with isolation and the comfort he has found in music and the distant sounds of a siren echoing across the land and sea.
Please note: this is an immersive, on-stage performance in the Pentland Theatre. The audience will be standing for the duration.
Lighthouse is presented by Jez Colborne. Co-commissioned by artsdepot and Barnet Council as part of Barnet’s Cultural Impact Award, with support from Mind the Gap. Originally commissioned as an Unlimited UK Partner Award 2025 production with BD: is LIT and Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England.
An internationally recognised learning-disabled artist, musician, composer and performance maker, Jez Colborne is based in Bradford. Known for creating immersive musical experiences, Jez crafts captivating worlds for audiences to explore.
For over 20 years, he has collaborated with Mind the Gap, composing music for the company’s productions and leading several acclaimed projects. These include Irresistible (an Unlimited commission for London 2012, performed at Cow & Calf in Ilkley, Southbank Centre, National Theatre, and internationally), Gift (featuring a shipping container as a musical instrument, commissioned by PRS New Music Biennial), and Trickster (a partnership with That’s Life, Galway).
Since 1988, Mind the Gap has created a pioneering legacy. They collaborate with learning disabled and/or autistic artists to make exciting, unapologetic, original work. They want to live in a world where learning disabled and / or autistic people are seen, heard and represented everywhere.
Based in Bradford, they make and tour work nationally and internationally, train artists for the future and specialise in community based cultural access.
Light + Flight is a new, borough-wide cultural programme unfolding across 2026, bringing together artists, communities, and local stories, culminating in a free, multi-day arts and heritage festival.
Light + Flight is presented by Art in Barnet. It is supported by a Cultural Impact Award, part of the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture programme. It is made possible with additional support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England.

Audio Described performances are designed for blind or visually impaired audience members. The actors’ dialogue is incorporated with live commentary that explains what is happening on stage. Audience members can listen to this via a headset and this doesn’t affect other audience members’ experience of the show.
Where possible, we also schedule a pre-show Touch Tour on the same day as an Audio Described performance, allowing audiences to explore the set and costumes and immerse themselves in the imaginary world of the show.
Touch Tours give blind or visually impaired audience members an opportunity to go up on stage and touch parts of the set, props and costumes to help immerse themselves in the imaginary world on stage. They can also be attended by anyone who would benefit from familiarising themselves with the auditorium and set before attending a performance.
Touch Tours usually take place 1 hour before the performance start time, but please check with the Box Office as this can vary.
To attend a Touch Tour, please contact the Box Office on 020 8369 5454 or email boxoffice@artsdepot.co.uk at least 48 hours before the touch tour.
