Taya De La Cruz’s work is thematically centred around expanding human consciousness and potential. Inspired by stories of overcoming hardship, she focuses on finding light in the dark - difficult circumstances are made approachable and even beautiful. The use of detailed, minuscule handwriting invites the viewer to move closer to the work itself and explore the narrative behind it.
Taya is a brand new, emerging artist. She is a half-Spanish, half-Indian Londoner who was raised in sleepy southern Spain and educated in Gibraltar. She trained as an actress, and found her way into visual art after a particularly dark chapter in her life.
