Residency Dates: Mon 2 - Fri 13 Feb 2015
HighRise Theatre is an inclusive theatre collective dedicated to making exciting, cutting-edge work whilst keeping an ear to the street and the communities they work in. Driven by play, excitement and the strength of their beards, you can find them “grinding away teaching young people how to be less like us” and delivering their practice across London.
A collective of actors, directors, facilitators, choreographers, writers, musicians, rappers and anything else they can show off with; HighRise’s family roots span over five continents, resulting in an eclectic and dynamic approach when telling stories.
The residency at artsdepot saw HighRise develop The Concrete Jungle Book, their take on Rudyard Kipling’s classic. The piece follows a young man who is brought up through the foster care system and his journey to manhood; whilst coping with living in the pressures of the urban environment he lives in. "Father figures are hard to find, temptation is around every corner and it’s a Jungle out there!"
