Residency Dates: Tue 3 – Fri 13 Jul
Freedom of identity has arguably been one of the biggest struggles of the LGBT+ community for generations past, present and future. Out is a show that explores the progression of British LGBT+ rights through observing personal stories of coming out. Using verbatim interviews and an intergenerational company, Out aims to question whether coming out has changed in line with the advancement of gay rights in Britain over the past sixty years.
Emerging artists Hyperdrive Theatre will use the residency to begin to tackle some of the core elements of the project, as well as streamlining material from the interviews to form a first draft. During their time in the Creation Space, Hyperdrive Theatre will also use this opportunity to engage their work with the local community as well as hosting a work in progress showing to an invited audience of industry members, to allow a future life of this project.
