Recording Your Stories - Over 60s Workshop
In this workshop, you'll have an opportunity to voice record own your stories and memories, to be preserved in a broader archive of stories generated by visitors to Tsunagu/Connect: The Exhibition.
The workshop will introduce the concept of ‘oral history’ and we'll discuss things to consider when asking and answering questions for the purposes of recording oral histories. As a group, we'll discuss and reflect on themes from the Tsunagu/Connect exhibition, and then you'll have a chance to record your own stories, using themes from the exhibition as prompts.
Tsunagu/Connect is a multi-phased, multi-year oral history project from New Earth Theatre that explores the lives of Japanese women living in the UK since 1945. Tsunagu/Connect: The Exhibition draws together some of these stories, revealing the joys and struggles, triumphs and hardships of creating a new life in a foreign land. Tsunagu/Connect: The Exhibition will be at artsdepot from Sun 13 - Sat 19 Feb, find out more.
