NT Connections Workshop: Intro to Devising
Creating material from scratch can be a daunting task, particularly with the absence of text.
Lead by Chalk Line Theatre, this workshop for young people aged 13 - 19 explores different methods of generating ideas through the use of simple exercises. It will also delve into developing an initial idea into something more tangible by providing tools to create complex characters and intricate scenes.
Chalk Line Theatre is a multi-award winning company based in Luton, who tour nationally and internationally. They are a Graduate Emerging Company of The New Diorama and Associate Artists at The Lion and Unicorn Theatre.
Chalk Line’s work is both thematically and visually ambitious, receiving great critical acclaim on their approach to contemporary theatre-making. As a company they look to experiment with form, by tackling socio-political subject matters in an innovative way that is ultimately challenging yet entertaining. Their shows combine physical expression, ensemble narratives and intricately bold designs, and are often multi-disciplinary drawing from theatre, film, music and dance.
