Barnet & Culture for Youth: B&CY Teach Meets

An opportunity for Barnet Arts Specialist teachers (e.g. drama, dance, music, visual arts) to get together on Zoom. Join us to share challenges, successes, ask questions and offer peer support. This session will focus on The Pavilion’s use of drama to support their pupils. The team will share some practical tools and techniques, followed by an opportunity for participants to network and connect.

The Pavilion is an alternative provision which caters for young people with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. Understandably, the pandemic impacted the wellbeing of some of their young people and as part of their recovery programme, drama in the school has been used as a tool to support young people during this time of turbulence and uncertainty. It provides an element of escapism as well as an understanding and assurance that this time we are living in is only temporary. The team have used drama to tackle a range of topics such as exploitation, loneliness, the increased use of social media and how the pandemic has impacted young people's education. In this session, the team will share ideas in the hope that other Barnet teachers and young people may benefit from this.
