Public Art around artsdepotPaper Trail (100,000 Cuts) by Anya Beaumont The large sculptural relief is made from materials collected from all over the Borough of Barnet. The artist has sourced paper that would otherwise be recycled from local residents and organisations and transformed it into an intricate mapping of the area. The paper relief includes documents from local libraries and schools, newspaper articles, maps of the area and drawings by children created at artsdepot’s Big Draw 2010 event. These materials old and new combine to create a unique mapping of the borough, alluding to its past, representing the present and pointing towards possible futures. Visitors can view the artwork in the public foyers on level 3 of artsdepot during opening hours. Anya Beaumont is an artist/sculptor who works in a variety of media. Her work is process led and often involves the use of shadows as a device to link 2 and 3 dimensions exploring the boundaries between drawing, painting and sculpture. She received her masters in Fine Art Theory and Practice from Middlesex University where she has recently completed a 2 year residency. Anya also teaches Fine Art and 3D at Amersham and Wycombe College. Read more information on this project.
