Visual Art at artsdepot

artsdepot’s visual art exhibitions are committed to showcasing local, national and international art work, striking a balance between painting, sculpture, photography, film, installation and digital art. In both the Apthorp gallery and public spaces, artsdepot’s dynamic exhibitions of contemporary art work seeks to reflect the vibrancy and diversity of the Borough it serves.

The Apthorp Gallery

The Apthorp gallery at artsdepot exhibits the work of emerging and established artists in its annual series of eight professional exhibitions. The process of sourcing, selecting, curating and programming exhibitions for the gallery is overseen by Tracey Lazarus, artsdepot’s Visual Art Programmer, with support from artsdepot’s Artistic Advisory Board. The gallery strives to connect the themes and genres of exhibits with the theatre, dance, music and education programming throughout artsdepot. The gallery is generously supported by the Milly Apthorp Fund. Two exhibitions are annual events:

Barnet Open

artsdepot launched the Barnet Open in 2005, exhibiting the work of local artists in the Apthorp Gallery. Work submitted is reviewed and selected by an Advisory Committee, before an exhibition in the summer. Creative Routes

Creative Routes is an artsdepot initiative, sponsored by the Milly Apthorp Fund. It promotes visual arts in Barnet schools by bringing exciting artists into classrooms and culminates in a schools’ exhibition in the Apthorp gallery.
