Schools

Through building strong relationships over the last three years with primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities in Barnet, artsdepot has developed a strong and highly successful schools programme, providing innovative and educational arts projects, workshops, residencies and INSETS. Annual projects include Creative Routes, a visual arts project that works with primary schools to create an original piece of visual art that is then displayed in the gallery for public view and Operating Theatre, a secondary school and sixth form drama festival, partnering professional theatre directors with groups, creating new work to be performed in artsdepot’s Studio Theatre.

Aims

To enable students to learn, develop and achieve new skills and confidence through working with professional artists, musicians, dancers and theatre companies.
To enable participants to perform at high profile events and professional settings.
To encourage participants to work with other students from across the borough.
To give teachers the opportunity to gain professional development, learning new skills to take back in to the classroom.
To create and maintain strong links with local primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities.
To give children and young people their first important steps to engaging with local arts provision.
To ensure children and young people develop a strong relationship with artsdepot, helping them to feel safe and at home when visiting the building.
