Ignite

artsdepot’s youth programme Ignite, provides exciting arts opportunities for young people age 13-19, especially for those at risk from exclusion, crime and young people not in education, employment or training (NEET). Through a number of successful projects we have developed strong partnerships with local schools including the Pavillion Study Centre, Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) and Northgate School, based at Edgware Community Hospital.  We also work regularly with community groups, housing estates and charities such as Barnet Young Carers and Grief Encounters. Work with these young people includes residencies, workshops, taster sessions and courses both in the community and at artsdepot.

Aims

  • To increase skills and learning opportunities for young people.
  • To enable young people to make an important first step in engaging in local arts provision and activities.
  • To use teamwork to achieve success.
  • To help young people develop confidence and self-esteem.
  • To help develop the literacy and language skills of the participants helping them to find exciting ways to express themselves.
  • To create an enjoyable and safe environment that young people want to attend.
  • To enable young people explore/engage in further education or training in this skill sector.
